Well happy to hear all these reviews becouse i am in the same position. The difference is i will be working as police officer in new castle da.

As a person who moved from NY to Bear, DE in 2009 take it from me - DO NOT move to Bear! I also do not think that you should move to the New Castle area unless you really have to. In my opinion, and I might get lashings for this, the Christina and Colonial School districts are subpar. They have a few ACCEPTABLE public schools - however, be ready for both riff raff and poor academics. I highly recommend you look in North Wilmington, Greenville, Hockessin, Pike Creek areas if you are north of the canal.

There are parts of Bear and Newark above the canal that are in the Appo school district, though.
