If it wasn't working, then I'd have to go for cleanings. I did that for decades long before I ever used CO toothpaste. I get no plaque/tarter buildup and my teeth feel clean and I floss too. And I quit eating a lot of sugary junk.

And think of all the money one saves by doing it yourself.

I guess I should have said "if you don't go to dental appointments how do you know it's working? Because dental appointments do lots more than just cleaning. Besides the X-rays, which show things even a dentist can't see (and you can't feel), there are the inspections for mouth disease of any kind, making sure your bite is not gradually going over or under, checking your jaw for dislocations, even small that you can't feel, checking for teeth occlusions, gum disease, and much more. If it's been five years since you've been to a dentist, there's lots happening that you don't know about in that field.

The best thing you're doing is cutting out the sugary stuff, and that's probably why you've lasted so long without major problems.

I would never suggest to anyone that not going to dental appointments is a good thing.

Obviously you have NOT read my other posts here. And I NEVER suggest to anyone not to go to dentists and doctors, but I do say what I do NOW at 79. I've done decades in dental offices and doctors and after learning so much on taking care of my own health, that is what I choose.

I have a mouthful of dental work from starting in my teens, so that is my story.

In spite of what the wonderful fluoride is supposed to do for our dental health. I've talked a lot about that health scam too.

I use the CO toothpaste when is a wonderful antibacterial for the mouth health and gums etc. And a strong antioxidant keeping my gums so healthy for the last 20+ yrs...

And changing diet and I have NO PAIN...pain indicates something is wrong as I see it.

Arthritis advances with age and that is my main issue. Take care and do what you do. I do what I do.

Moderator cut: edited out part that resulted in the beginning of an argument. Deleted next post too. Keep this on topic, everyone

Thanks. I found a similar recipe online, but with more baking soda. I also noticed that my mouth/teeth feel cleaner when I use CO toothpaste. The only thing I don't like is that CO is very runny and makes the sink oily/sticky.

One can adjust the toothpaste ingredients to their liking. This last batch I made up I added drops of Rosemary Oil and I like that addition. One can spit in waste basket or just use some cleanser to wipe the sink now and then. That does not bother me. I'm just so happy to keep my teeth clean and bacterial free as I know how. I line my waste baskets and that's no problem, oil goes into papers.

We can't have it all, if this really works for some and I believe it does, then think of all the money saving one appreciates...otherwise spend the $100 plus for suggested dental cleanings.

Have you found a way to mix it up so it's not messy?

I have not, but as another poster mentioned You can't have it all. I plan to try some different amounts of baking soda and perhaps add a little sea salt to my next batch.

I do have to clean my sink a lot since the CO leaves it a bit oily and sticky.

I mix mine in 2 oz or 4 oz jar that I've kept from other products. I don't find it messy at all and worth everything to keep my teeth in better health. I start with a base of 2T of CO or 3T of CO. Add a little baking soda and drops of the oil I feel like using...peppermint, rosemary or clove etc etc. Be creative.

One can buy coconut oil toothpaste and I just noticed iherb sells a brand. Amazon sells it and other companies and it's pricier so I prefer to make my own as I use CO for so much.

Is that all natural toothpaste that drug stores sell any good? I think it's branded "Tom's" or something similar.

A lot can be OK, don't get the SLS in the brands you use. This is sodium lauryl sulfate and you can look that up and see what they say about SLS.

I didn't use the CO toothpaste for a couple nights and omg, the plaque and tarter was beginning to build. I have a thread on this one.
