I had an old filling replaced last Friday. The dental hygienist told me that the filling was strong and good to use. Now, approximately 5 days after the appointment, my tooth is still pretty sensitive to hot, cold, and crunchy objects that come into contact with it. Are there any dental professionals here who have an idea how long the increased sensitivity should last? Should there be a point where I need to contact my dentist if the sensitivity continues?

Thanks!

I had the same issue a few weeks ago. It took about 2 weeks for the sensitivity to go away. If it doesn't go away, call the office.

2 weeks.
If still hurting you may need to get a root canal.
