Canker sores don't normally show up on the gums. They usually show up on the inside of the cheek, on your upper palate, and on your tongue. If you have a pustule on your gum, you might have an abscess, which would require antibiotics at the very minimum - and possibly a tooth extraction or even bone graft restoration at the absolute worst (depends on how long you've had it and how bad it is and how deep it is).
In the meantime, no, if it really is a canker sore, it'll clear up all by itself in around a week. You can swish warm salt-water around in your mouth, and avoid all citrus fruits, tomatoes, hot peppers, any foods that would irritate an open wound (other than salt water, which actually reduces the pain). Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and be sure to brush after every meal, so the food you eat doesn't remain long enough in your mouth to irritate it.
And get to a dentist between now and a week from now to make sure it's not an abscess.
