In the above example, if a person made $16,644 annually and had children would it be to their financial advantage to quit working and rely solely on welfare? Honest question here.
Welfare won't pay the rent. She'd end up having to move herself and her family into Section 8 housing, which is a separate subsidy. There is NO benefit to that. Section 8 housing is what most people refer to as "slums."

Not anymore. That is considered racist. There are section 8 units in some pretty nice places. Brand new places, luxury places. This builder got in trouble for putting lower quality fixtures and materials in the subsidized units. Granite countertops for all.

As far as dental I think it should be the same as medical, it is part of our general health and should be covered the same as medical. No one should be missing teeth if they don't want to be missing teeth.

Teeth are not medically necessary. Your life will not be at risk without your teeth. Millions of people have no teeth and can eat, drink, talk, and function just fine without them. That's why regular health insurance doesn't cover dental care in adults. It covers dental care for children, with limits, because a child's mouth is still growing and shaping itself, and they can end up at risk, if they don't get that initial care.

And calling slums, slums, has nothing to do with race or racism. People of all colors, nationalities, countries of origin, religions, live in slums.
