Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I've decided to wait longer before doing another surgery. While I've experienced some bone loss in the area, the gums seem to be healing fine. Although they don't look 100% healed, I think waiting is probably a wise decision.
In the past few weeks, the pain has gotten better. I am always aware of the area, as it is sometimes sensitive, but I'm not in constant pain anymore. I've visited an endodontist and oral surgeon. The oral surgeon said he thought I should have the tooth extracted and get an implant. Wow, drastic! The endodontist said the area didn't look that bad and suggested I wait a bit longer for the healing process.
I'm under the care of a new periodontist who'll I see again on Monday. I hope things continue to heal and the bone loss doesn't get too much worse. The last thing I want is to go though the trauma of having another surgery.
Sorry I'm just responding to your last comment, but I don't get e-mail notifications for this thread. Not sure how to arrange that....hmmm. Thanks again for all your help. I really appreciate you and the others for sharing their experiences here.
I'll definitely keep you posted as to what happens next. I'm so glad to hear that your pain has resolved for the most part. Yay!
Great to hear it's getting better! I'm glad you're waiting, I think that's the best course of action.
It's disturbing to me to hear that medical professionals are so quick to jump to drastic measures to correct things that could actually make it worse, which unfortunately is most likely incentivized by money.
Hello guys , i found your topic and i think i may be in the same situation
Forgive me in advance for my writing ( im french )
So i had a gum surgery ( crown lengthtening) about 2 months ago and since then i experience a strange feeling / discomfort very similar to what you described!
Its on the bottom left gum , i have a discomfort 24/7 with a very changing intensity, it can be very annoying to just “here” i have no sensibility to pressure or temperature , and it seems to get better when i eat , chew
I was wondering if Advil helped in your case because it does for me so cant be sure about the type of pain yet ( inflammatory or neuropathic )
Since its on the side of a root treated tooth , i wanted to know if these symptoms could be associated with any kind of failure/ infection ( from what you learned over you researchs and doctors )
Thanks you !
Hi Croucou,
It's a bit difficult to understand exactly what you mean here but I think I get the general summary which is that you had a crown procedure done and now you have some chronic pain. I would give the same advice which is to wait it out while also seeing multiple specialists to get some different opinions. Chewing also helped me when I had pain, I think it's because it distracts you from the pain with a new sensation.
To MyMouthhurts, Trying to DM you but for some reason I've been told I've maxed out on DM's despite never sending one before? I have a similar situation to you and would really like to chat with you over the phone if you have some time. Please try and DM me. If you're up to chatting please provide your email address and I'll reach out. I am so happy to hear your pain has subsided. I hope I will be as lucky as you. Thanks and hope to hear back from you.
