there was a study that came out a few days ago about flossing. Said it didn't make a difference if you flossed or not.
I saw that too..I just don't believe that...I've flossed regularly for the last 10 years and my teeth and gums look so much better, feel so much better and I just have much cleaner feeling mouth than I did before I flossed
I floss a couple of times a week. But swishing with Plax for 2-3 minutes before brushing helps A LOT. Also getting a new toothbrush every 2 mos or so makes a big difference.

Yeah, I wonder whether this controversy will be like the contradictory dietary guidance they've fed us the past few years. E.g., don't eat eggs .... eat eggs ... don't eat eggs ... eat eggs... Back-and-forth it goes and where it ultimately stops no one knows.
I brush, floss, and use the water pik. Sometimes flossing is last, and it removes junk that brushing and water-pik miss. Other times I water-pik last, and it removes stuff that brushing and flossing don't get.
Seems to me that any process that removes food debris has got to be good.
I brush and floss daily. It is the sine qua non of my existence. I am simply in the habit of flossing when I brush, and I have found that with the habit firmly ingrained, one is simply not complete without the other.
As for that study, color me skeptical. Dentists have been telling us for years flossing is important and if it turns out it is not important, that would be a revolution in the understanding of home oral care.
I floss after dinner, out of habit and also as part of my weight maintenance. Once my teeth are flossed, I won't eat because I don't want to floss again. So no nighttime snacking for me.
I floss at night and often at lunch-time too. I like the clean feeling and fresh breath -- and who wants to smile with bits of spinach and what-not stuck between their teeth? Not a glamour look at all!
