Hi

Ironically I was at the dentist on Saturday with no pain just for a regular cleaning. Anyways, today my mouth is in pain where my bottom left wisdom tooth is. I think i have pericoronitis. I googled it and it looks like what I feel. I feel a painful lump when i touch the corner if my mouth. It feels round too.

Not sure what to do. My dentist did take xrays and I was told if anything pops up bad that he would call (he took them at the end of the appointment).

Now im worried because Saturday was my last day with the dental insurance (i aged out of my parents then got new insurance but job problems so i lost that and i have to wait until October to get on my fiancés soon to be husbands insurance) we had to pay out of pocket for the wisdom teeth removal (had my upper two removed now only have my bottom 2 left)

Can i just make an appointment where I got my upper 2 removed? I will pay out of pocket if needed or do I need to see my regular dentist again? He does have the new xrays. I dont know where to go from here... :/

This JUST happened to me and is why I had all four removed last month. I visited the dentist and a week later had pain and what looked exactly like periocoronitis. My dentist prescribed antibiotics and I did a lot of salt and warm water rinses. You can call and explain your insurance expired and ask if he'll see you quickly as a favor. I think most would peep in your mouth and confirm/deny then give you a script for antibiotics.

The pain eventually went away but the inflammation did not. I scheduled the extractions a month later.
