It may depend on why the overbite exists. If there is an underlying structural reason for it (too much room in the upper jaw, not enough room in the lower jaw, larger sized teeth) it probably wouldn't just disappear on its own. You're sort of born with it. If someone created an overbite from a thumbsucking or tongue habit once they stop their teeth might eventually drift back to the positions they originally started off in.

Unless an overbite is severe to the point of interfering with normal activities or grossly affects appearance it doesn't seem worth wasting money on.
