Can one get dental braces (aligner?) without having to see a dentist? Also how effective would dental braces be for adults?
How would the aligner be designed for the patient without a dental exam? Kind of need a dentist (well, an orthodontist) to figure out what needs and does NOT need to be done! If someone claimed they could fix whatever tooth alignment problems I have without seeing seeing me in person, I'd be running far and fast!
Yes braces are effective for adults. See grown ups with them everywhere.
My husband's co worker did this for his son. Something was sent thru the mail for his son to make "impressions" with.
They were pleased with the aligners they received in the mail.
For adults, it will take longer and slower. For kids below 16, some have had their treatments completed in a matter of 6 months, I was told.
I read that SmileDirect charge less than $3,000.
They use their own type of aligners, not Invisalign aligners used by certified orthodontists and dentists.
I chose a reputable certified orthodontist (FRCDC). The cost is a little more than double of that of SmileDirect, you get a medical professional who has completed 4-year Dental School and 3-year post-graduate internship at a hospital. Not all people seek out an orthodontist for esthetic but for medical reason.
His dental clinic is very well equipped including a 3D scanner and a 3D dental imaging/X-ray. And every 6 - 8 weeks, he will personally examine my teeth and supervise his team of certified dental hygienists.
I am leery of those still practising "goopy impression" technique.
You need scanning for your teeth only then you can go for braces or aligners and yes its perfectly fine for adults to get a braces. It is very much effective.
Without visiting a dentist, I don't believe it's practicable. To straighten teeth, dental braces and Invisalign are commonly used. I prefer Invisalign since I've tried both to straighten my teeth. Unlike braces, Invisalign may be removed before eating or cleaning your teeth, making it incredibly easy and practical to use. Both aligners can gently move your teeth into position. All you have to do is speak with a qualified cosmetic dentist about your concerns.
