Long story...

When I was 5 years old i went face first into a picnic table and almost lost my front 2 adult teeth. Then when I was about 12 I fell off my bike and went face first into concrete. fast forward to 25 years later started having front teeth pain this past January. In March ended up needing a root canal in my front left tooth which helped, was sore for months but manageable. This past September i started having really bad pain in that same tooth. so 2weeks and 4 days ago I got the an apicoectomy done and my pain is even worse. My tooth makes me want to cry everyday and when i cry it makes my teeth hurt more. The cold makes it hurt, taking a shower makes it hurt. Advil doesn't help and I am on hydrocodone when the pain become unbearable. I had a follow up and the specialist said he is a bit concerned that my teeth still hurt so bad. He told me it could take a total of 6 weeks to fully heal so waiting until January to make sure before we do anything else.
My teeth are very sensitive and usually take a bit longer to heal, but its like I can feel the tooth inside my gum and it so uncomfortable. It's sore really bad when I make that blowing out candles shape with my mouth (sorry don't know how to describe it). I am not 100% regretting getting this done because it's worse than before. I am seeing if anyone else has had this and ended up being ok, I have a feeling I will need it extracted and implanted which I can't afford, but will have to do it anyways. I have left over antibiotics they gave me before my surgery (It wasn't mandatory that I take them but would help why I waited the 3 weeks for surgery) so I decided to take those since I have enough to last 10days 2X a day and see if that does anything.

Anyone have similar issues that can give me any recovery stories? or am I pretty much ****ed?

Thanks for any help, because I can't find anyone to help me.

I've had issues with every root canal that was done in my mouth. They clean the tooth out, then they close it up. I leave, eventually a bunch of pressure builds up inside my tooth until I get back to the dentist to go back in to clean it out more.

I don't think I've ever had it done from the roots like you did, I do see on google that they can some times fail. You may need another one, or pull the tooth, implant added.

I had front teeth issues, had a hairline crack on the top 4. Eventually I capped them 10 years ago, worst mistake of my life, caps started coming off. Dentist did a horrible job, teeth were too long too. Looked like bugs bunny, he also put them at an angle.

Yeah this is my first root canal and first surgical root canal. It was better for a few days and now it's just so bad. It's hard to find anyone that had a story or experience to help me out. I feel like my tooth is gonna just fall out (I highly doubt that since the roots go up really far). I just feel crazy for having these done and still feeling pain with no nerves left. Our dentist and the guy who did it I do trust and for me it's a very hard to find a dentist I trust. I just don't know if it failed or if I just need more time. I had 5 filings done in May at the same time and it took almost 5 months before I could fully eat on that side again because all 5 were on the same side. So idk if it just needs more time or if I'm ****ed

I had a root canal, the pain returned, so six months later the endodontist did the root surgery. It hurt for a few weeks then got more normal. I had to be pretty careful for a while, not to irritate it.

Essentially the same story here thanks to a bicycle accident. Multiple root canal treatments, then the roots reinfected, then more attempts to save the teeth. They were fragile and darkened over time, were loose and I couldn’t use them for biting. Ultimately I had them extracted and replaced with implants and crowns. Expensive and lots of time in the chair, but so worth it. I suspect you’ll find yourself in the same position in the not too distant future.
