We are planning to find a respectable company to build for us a custom house in the Denver metro area and our budget is about 450k. We went through the link above to check the list of many companies which build houses. From our basic research we excluded KB Home because of their bad repetition. Also we fond McStain going bankruptcy.
Since we are not expert, would you please advice us about the good and the bad builders in the Denver metro area so we can save having trouble in building our house.
Thanks to everybody in this forum.

both KB and Mcstain are not Custom builders, they are spec home builders. There are SO many good custom builders in Colorado more specifics would be needed from you. Such as where are you wanting to build? I work for a design firm in Colorado and have worked with many good custom builders on many projects. I know for sure that Coenen Homes, DRH builders, CSI construction, and Kruegar Construction are very good builders. Of course I would still recommend doing more research on each, and really find one that fits with you well before moving ahead on any design. DRH Builders, Coenen Homes, and CSI Construction currently have projects in Huntington Trails at 144th and Huron in Westminster. All of them are small mom and pop shops and really strive to do good for their clients. I have done design work for them in the past.

you are very welcome. You can also check out the Home Builders Association here in Colorado, that might get you some leads too.

Hi Noahma!

I am researching the custom builder industry in Denver as well. However I am a designer and my husband and I are looking for jobs so we can move there hopefully in the fall. Would you have any contacts you would recommend that are luxury modern and reputable?

THANK YOU for your help!
Hilary

Does anyone have any feedback about Richmond American? http://richmondamerican.com/

We're especially curious about how their houses hold up over time - warranties, features, and the like.

Their homes have held up well from 30 years ago. I don't know if newer ones are different.

No builder is perfect. Just as no human is perfect. The trick to buying a new home is to have specialists on your side during and after the construction process.

The sales team is not licensed in our state to sell real estate. Their job is to sell you a property. The contract is very one sided written by the seller's attorneys. Which options are worth it? How much is too much to spend at the design center? Can you negotiate price, options, both? Should you have the property inspected? How often and by whom?
