Stadium policy says "camera lenses" are not permitted. We have a DSLR and 200m telephoto lens that we want to take in today for the Man U. match. Will they allow it? Curious what the actual practice is. The Superdome in New Orleans had a similar "official" policy, but never actually turned you away unless you were trying to come in with a bunch of camera gear.

In my experience at sporting events and concerts (whether in big sports arenas or smaller bars), they tend to say no cameras, but you can bring point and shoots with you. I usually take it to mean nothing with a big detachable lens. But I don't know at this stadium in particular.

There's just no way to enforce a policy against all cameras these days. Everyone just records stuff using their phone these days, and there's no way to tell the difference from security's POV between a smartphone and an mp3 player/small tablet that looks like a smartphone. Even small point-and-shoots with better picture/video/audio quality don't look too dissimilar from afar.

It says in other places that "small cameras" are allowed. Getting at what is the real practice. This will be our first time going to Mile High. Wondering if anybody has ever had difficulty, or tried taking in professional grade equipment i.e. detachable lenses. We'd just walk in with our 5D and 200m L lens, not our whole bag and range of gear.

When I've been curious about the real practice at venues I'd never been to, I've looked on youtube for videos shot at the place. They often say what kind of equipment they're using. Not sure where to look for still images though.
