Hello,

I will be in the Denver area on business next week and have heard about the fall colors in the mountains. Since i likely won't have anytime to goto the mountains, are there some good colors around the city or burbs? If so, where are they?? Thanks!

You can try some of the older neighborhoods in Denver, the inner ring suburbs, Boulder, etc.

I don't think the fall colors in Denver are anything that great, IMO. But like Katiana said, explore the older neighborhoods, that's where you'll find the most leafy trees.

Nobody comes to Denver itself for the fall color! Every few years we get good color, but most years it's pretty pathetic... like last year when the first "frost" was a freeze in the teens. Right now there isn't much color at all and we haven't had a frost. Doesn't look like a frost will happen in the next week either. If we got a light frost right now, we'd probably get good color. But there may be some color here and there next week.

What about City Park - are the trees there changing at all?

I drove through Park Hill this morning and just a little color here and there, but not much. I would imagine City Park is the same. On the one hand, I'm loving the warm weather, but a nice little frost would really give us good color this year.

I've seen some fall color driving to and from Bowles and Coal mine in Littleton, sheridan/285 near Walmart, up and down Santa Fe south of 1-25 near the creek. Also Dailey Park on Ellsworth and Cherokee, the K-mart on Alameda/Cherokee, and pretty much some neighborhoods 10 blocks north and south of City Park. Drive around enough and you'll see some nice spots.

You'll see some good fall colors if you drive US-287 north from Broomfield to Fort Collins.

University/York can be a good drive. The stretch from Cherry Creek to i25 is nice with the tall trees...a number of them changing colors.
