We are looking at a possible move from AZ to CO. The job would be in Aurora, but we would be willing to have a 30 minute commute if it meant being in the best neighborhood/schools for our family. We have a Kindergartener and a 3 year old. Any suggestions would be helpful.

what does "best" mean to you?

"Best" is subjective, however "highly regarded" involves some sort of communal consensus. The easy answer is probably somewhere in Cherry Creek School District. It has many very highly regarded schools and programs and is adjacent to southern Aurora. Also nearby are Douglas County School District and Littleton School District. These district are also highly regarded. Littleton is the oldest area and also furthest away from Aurora. Most parts of CCSD and DCSD were built after 1980 and you can still find new construction in both areas. All three areas are pretty family oriented,

There is no need to live 30 min away from your job to get in a good neighborhood. In a metro area as large as Denver, there's no one "best" neighborhood, or, believe it or not, "best" school district.

Suburbia? Age of home? Basement? Lot size? etc

Plenty within 30 minutes of there, most of it within 3 or 4 cities

Cherry Creek isn't the only good school district in the Denver area. Our kids have been going to Adam's county 5 star schools for two years now and we think the school's challenge our children, have excellent, caring teachers and provide great special needs (including gifted and talented) education, as well many enrichment classes such as art and music.

Kindy is still only a half day but you can pay extra for a full day. Before and after school care is also offered, but we've never used that.

We live in Thornton, our kids attend Hunter's Glen elementary and Century middle school. A great and very safe suburban, family oriented area!

You have to be careful in Aurora. Many parts are crime ridden. Only S. Aurora is pretty nice and you don't have the nice mountain view like other towns. C. Creek schools are awesome but so are Douglas County (we lived in Parker) and Littleton schools. (I love Littleton). I have never liked Aurora. I just feels like any other dirty city. You don't get the "Colorado" experience. But then again, you guys want it for the schools.
