Also conspicuous by its absence is Aurora Public Schools; I guess b/c it's not really "north".

ETA: In the list of private schools up north is Alexander Dawson, and there are several in Boulder.

To be fair I was typing my response when he typed his so I didn't know he was going to list them.

Not knowing specifics about school equalization but isn't this a deterrant to voting on school mill levies since a good amount comes from the state? I live in Littleton Public Schools district which did pass their mill levy in October.

OK on the first paragraph.

Re: mill levies, the state does equalize to a certain extent, however, school districts may override the state allotment by 25%; that is what a lot of mill levy votes are for. Also, the per-pupil amount allowed by the state does not include money for capital expenses (schools and other building projects), transportation and other items.

I left out DPS and APS because this I was asked to name a "bad" northern district. I would consider these two districts more central. I wouldn't consider them to be particularly good either. Most of the central Jeffco schools (Lakewood HS excepted) are pretty bad too.

While on the subject of the South Denver 'burbs, anyone else here think they have more in common with Colorado Springs than with Denver?

My impression of places like south Jefferson County, Douglas County, western Arapahoe County is that they are much more conservative, religious, and family-oriented than Denver, and a lot like Colorado Springs in that regard.
