now that a lot of houses are reaching the age that they need to be painted, this is getting better. I've seen my neighborhood brighten up quite a bit in the last 4 years.

I believe the comment was made in regards to race, but the poster can correct me if need be.

Default windy in HR

We visited HR for a week and were amazed at how windy it was all the time. I have long hair and the wind was whipping it all around my head anytime we went outside. Not a pleasant experience. The kind of wind that makes you glad to get indoors- not something I wanted to feel in a state known for its physical beauty. You might ask somebody who lives there about the wind. We asked some residents and they said that it's windy in HR quite a lot. It's also dry and looks a lot like Whoville of Dr. Seuss books. Plus check the sex offender registry-- there are a _lot_ of sex offenders living in "family friendly" Highlands Ranch!

It has been a very windy season everywhere in the Metro area.

Highlands Ranch is a very nice place to live, no matter if your hair is long or short, no matter your education, your age, height, etc.

I read that 1 out of every 70 residents in Colorado live in Highlands Ranch.

That doesn't make it a nice place to live. I like the description above when they said it is like Whoville, that's better than ghetto ranch which I hear more often.

This is quite the hyperbole. I did check the registry. There are 18...out of what? 90,000?

And compared to other communities people tend to consider along with HR, it's actually on the low end. (and that's straight numbers - I didn't waste my time computing percentages)

Budget Reduction Information
We are still seeing teachers let go in HR, combined classrooms/grades, and cuts in Specials including elimination in some cases...and we are attending a school with VERY generous parents that is supplementing salaries. I have to agree with "taking a big hit".

I saw a new mobile installed at Northridge Elementary this month. School's out for middle and high schoolers, so I can't comment on any change for the upcoming year. I know that if I prepay the bus, it's only $150 for the year.

I am not worried about Douglas county schools. They have a good system, a plan, a new superintendent.

I am more than happy I raised 2.75 kids here. There is not another place in the metro area that I think could have done better.
