We are renting in Lowry right now. Not cheap, but then that's in the eye of the renter. The neighborhood is very nice & very, very quiet.

Like cowboyxjon said, there are apartment complexes around Lowry that use the name. Lowry extends roughly from 11th Ave to Alameda, and Quebec to Dayton.

Some of the lofts and townhomes a bit east and south, around the ice rink and adjacent to the Wings Over the Rockies Museum, may be "affordable." All relative, of course.

My concern would be with ground contamination from dumping at the old base. I have the same concern about Stapleton.

Former: A lot of people have brought that out - not just dumping but fuel from the planes. If you search this forum you'll see tons of talk about it. We want to move to Stapleton, but cannot until we can sell our Thornton home.

In any case, is there any supporting doc on dumping/fuel being a problem in Stapleton and Lowry? I mean any proof that it is affecting the water, soil, etc.?

No, they are not aliens. They're from France.

None that I know of. I drink the tap water and still only have two eyes There's one area in the far eastern part of Stapleton where apparently they dumped asbestos out by the end of the runways, and that has been in cleanup mod ever since we moved here. I believe they're about done with that area and it's the only thing I've heard about regarding contamination.

Maybe be a bit more specific about location. I live just southeast of Lowry proper and it's a very safe neighborhood. Lowry itself is low-crime but not so affordable. A couple of areas just northeast of there are not so nice.

When building my townhome at Harcourt in Lowry, there were asbestos concerns. They found asbestos approximately the size of a 3" sliver...and promptly removed the soil down 10 feet from the entire lot and all adjacent lots. No fuel or other contaminants found.

If you're worried about ground contamination, there are far more secret/hidden areas of any town to worry about. In the case of Lowry, everything is in the open and public, and it's probably the safest dirt you'll ever encounter.

Except for the occasional fox in the neighborhood with two heads.
