We are looking for a place to move toward the Denver area but we aren't sure what is a good choice or a terrible choice. We are just looking for an apartment or a house to rent for now. We found a few affordable options in Lowry but I've never been there to know what it is like. Would you say its a nice old neighborhood, safe enough for families? or is it seedy and ghetto? Would you live there? Any advice for a good place to live that is affordable? Thank you!

The Lowry neighborhood? Affordable? Old?

I think I am very confused.

Lowry is in urban in-fill project like Stapleton. Its pretty new and I don't believe its cheap.

Lowry is not old, generally not "affordable" - so I am confused.

Lowry is an infill neighborhood replete with half-million dollar+ homes and expensive condos. It's the opposite of old and affordable. I believe the 80230 zip code (the Lowry zip codes) is the most affluent in all of Denver proper. And yes, it's a very safe neighborhood.

Make sure you aren't looking at complexes like "Lowry Heights Apartments", which aren't actually IN the Lowry neighborhood. In fact, someone was shot there this morning, and for awhile, the headline in the Denver Post said something along the lines of "Shooting in Lowry..." when in reality, it's the East Colfax neighborhood and is NORTH of the official Lowry neighborhood. So yeah, some of those apartment complexes and buildings use the Lowry name even though they are adjacent to Lowry.

Yea, if it's "affordable" then it may be a scam.

Depends on what you think is affordable. Everyone has different opinions. We looked at buying there, but it seemed a bit too quiet for us. So define affordable so that everyone is on the same page.
