So my mind is pretty much set up on moving from my parents place in CA and getting out on my own out here.
I drive an 18-wheeler and almost always get loads going from CA and coming up towards either Denver, Aurora, Loveland, or Cheyenne and back in the other direction.
Seeing as how I've set up here for a day or two while awaiting my next load assignment, I've bicycled around most of the main drags from the truck stops and have noticed quite a few apartment complexes within a 3-5 mile distance.
I see plenty of them and based upon so-so credit and all the usual things, can't decide which one would be good to get started out with.

My eventual goal is to aim for some place within a 5-10 mile range of that Flying J off of Airport or around there.
Get moved in, get settled, then eventually get hired on with a local, or regional outfit that pretty much keeps me within the "four-corners".

Although, I'll still drive with my regular outfit until the latter comes up.

A little lengthy and garbled, but I've been itching to do this for quite some time.
Thanks in advance for any useful leads in the right direction.

I've read your trucking stories and if you have the time to cut and paste a few they would be welcome in "The Official C-D Trucking Stories Thread" in the Automotive Forum. LOTS of very interesting stories in there, and a few of my own as a guy who use to hire a lot of truckers.

This is what you're looking at (the small circle inside the big one is a five mile radius, the bigger one, a 10 mile radius).

Within the inner circle in Aurora (pretty much everything south of I-70 within the inner circle on the map), it gets better the further south you go. Anything within Denver's boundaries in the inner circle isn't very nice (MOL, Montbello).

Everything in Aurora in the outer circle is fine to nice. Everything to the north and east in the outer circle are either fragmented subdivisions and/or plains. Can't say I'd recommend Commerce City or much of NE Denver to anybody. Nearly everything in the outer circle within Denver, south of Colfax is fine or nice.

What's your price range, and what are you looking for in your new residence/area? Feel free to post cross-streets, subdivisions, complexes, etc. We'll help you out.

@David Aguilar

I've still got plenty of places to explore, but I've spied places near Chambers/Colfax and Alameda/Airport that seem within my given range of $500-$700/mo.

Apartments, 1-2 bdrm and such are what I'm kind of aiming towards, but if there's any leads of fixer-uppers, or bank/LE repos, that would be nice too.

While the company terminal for my current outfit is based in Fontana, we're given enough bottled-water loads between Denver and Cheyenne that I'll see "future home" every week.

You'll only like Colfax/Chambers if you like Fontana lol.

Alameda/Airport (aka Buckley) is a much better area.

You aren't moving Nestle Pure Life water are you? I noticed they changed their "source" to Cabazon, and now it tastes like Riverside tap water.

Yep, that's the stuff right there.
As far as Colfax/Chambers goes, I never really had anything against Fontana.
But I guess any strain is somewhat removed due to the fact that there's still enough of those bicycle trails with natural settings nearby.

Anywho, both areas are still in manageable bicycling distance of the Flying J so that while I'm waiting to get dispatched, I could at least leave my truck there and pedal home.

Good luck.
