I am seeking some advice as far as hipster (hate using this word, but it paints a good picture) and artist neighborhoods go in Denver. Think Brookyln. I am moving from East Nashville, so a great music scene with lots of dive bars that play GOOD rock and roll music are important to me. I don't want many chain restaurants or fast food, and would like to be within walking distance to a decent amount of eateries and bars, or near a rail or bus line. A younger crowd is important. Also would really prefer a hous to an apartment.

Most of all, I am looking for something CHEAP! I am not very worried about crime, considering where I am moving from and I'm a 23 year old male. From what I've read, Capitol Hill seems like the place, but I wanted to double check.

I would also be interested in living somewhere that is a 25 minute MAX drive to downtown, were I could have a yard, garage, and some privacy. a "mountain town" would be perfect if such a place exists that close to Denver with similar things to offer. I would consider a bit farther out if the light rail I've read about is nearby.

Lastly, what is the motorcycle community like in Denver? Any help in this area would also be cool.

Thanks folks!

There is no mountain town that close to Denver(25min), so I'd rule that out right away. Otherwise, can't help you.

Check out the Golden area-pretty hip, very near the mountains, big motor cycle scene. Seems like it would be 25 min to downtown Denver , but not sure

Golden would be close to 25 min. depending on traffic.

In the city you're right Capitol Hill has plenty of hipsters, as well as points east along Colfax west of Colorado. Plenty of good bars and live music venues along that stretch. Also along Broadway south of downtown and the neighborhoods around it (north of I-25).

If you're looking for really cheap stay north of Colfax around City Park (the further north the cheaper it gets especially northwest of City Park)

the neighborhood you are describing is baker. south broadway is lined with music clubs, bars and restaurants. check out sputniks/ hi dive and skylark lounge which plays country and rockabilly three nights a week.

i've heard of a motorcycle scene in evergreen which is a mountain town, but a bit further away. not too many hipsters but i imagine they have a number of dive bars and clubs.

as mentioned above, i think baker is an ideal spot for you, between alameda and 13th, and santa fe and broadway. there's a lot of older houses that have been converted into apartments and while you may not get a place to yourself, you can have a yard and possibly a garage. rent isn't terrible, and there's lots of hipsters along broadway and santa fe depending on what night of the week you're there. also, you're only a mile or so from downtown and the light rail is right there.

other places to consider would be north or south of colfax between broadway-ish and colorado blvd. there's some good clubs there and lots of bars, and it has an urban feel. take a look at five points and the area just north of downtown as well. it's not as hoppin' as baker or colfax, but the larimer lounge has a lot of good shows and there's lots of hipsters in that area too.

none of these neighborhoods are very far apart from each other, so if you live in one it's only a short trip to another to hang out for the night.

can't speak to the motorcycle scene. in this areas, i see a lot of scooters and older motorcycles.
