ok, I'll get blasted here, but since no one has responded.... Children have no place in or around casinos IMHO. Gambling here is very small time, not like Vegas. If you have kids, arrange for your own sitter and take a day trip to Blackhawk. For god's sake, leave your kids at home. I can't imagine leaving my kids with a daycare in a casino. I don't have kids, but still. Geez.

I'm with you, wanttomoveeast. I have kids, so I think I am qualified to speak, and I'll second what you said. I am no prude, but that's one of the top 10 places I would never expose my young kids to.

Thanks Sapphire. The OP's question seems to be common place though. I've seen the question asked in travel forums (casinos outside of this country) and in Vegas. And those areas are worse IMHO because they allow smoking in-house whereas we don't.

Do they still allow smoking in casinos? Last time I stepped into a Black Hawk Casino, the place was a nicotine chamber. No way I take a kid within a 100 yards of that. Of course, it's possible that they finally outlawed smoking up there, so that might not be an issue anymore.

Exactly, it is not like Vegas. Boy, I wish I could go there!

Nope, kids are so not for me, not having them at all. I'm not alone in my thinking, see Sapphire's post. I'm sorry you don't have outlets for local childcare here. Teaching your kids right from wrong I would think would not save them from the child predators out there. BTW: I think gambling is gambling and it really doesn't attract the most savory persons, whether you are in Vegas or not. I'm a local and a native and can easily speak on behalf of Blackhawk/Central City.

Nope tfox, no smoking in any public establishment in Colo. except for spots that have the cigar license. Black Hawk does not have any place like that. The law is state mandated, not county. The casinos have built fancy covered areas for the smokers though for bad weather.

You people are something else! Fod goodness sakes join the 21st century! Perhaps you oughta visit a kids playspace in a casino - the kids have more fun than the adults do in the casinos, and those facilities are generally not even in the same building as the casino, therefore smoke and drinking are not an issue. At least the employees in the play facilities have had background checks - most babysitters these days can't pass a reference check, and I wouldn't leave my dogs with a sitter these days! I'd rather take my child to a casino playcare than leave them at home with a babysitter, at least the facility is on site and it's a short walk away to check on them and know they're safe!! Unfortunately Washington is somewhat behind on these things, so they're are none available here. You'll have to go to Oregon for a casino with a play facility, but at least it's closer than Washington! Good luck - and disregard these judgemental people!
