Will we make it to setting the record for driest March?

Dry, warm weather continues in Denver; March could set a record

Quote:
March is normally Denver's snowiest month — but not this year. . .

. . . Denver has received only 0.03 inches of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service, and just a trace amount of snow on March 1, 2 and 7.

"We are looking at the top spot" in the record book for the driest March if the bone-dry weather pattern continues, said Kari Bowen, a meteorologist with the Weather Service.

The driest March recorded was in 1908, with about 0.10 of an inch of precipitation. . . .

Goodbye winter, hello summer Feels like NC/FL with the skipping of the seasons. I was hoping to get a few weeks of 40-50 degree mountain biking weather before the heat came.

I'd be shocked if it didn't snow in April. I've never experienced an April where it didn't snow. I looked it up and the earliest "last freeze" in Denver was April 5th. My only worry is that trees are blooming and if it drops down much below 30, it'll kill all the leaves and trees will have to start over.

LOL. Yeah, I wondered what forecast they were looking at. Maybe an early April Fool joke?
This from the NWS:
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DENVER/BOULDER CO 210 PM MDT SUN APR 1 2012
LOOKING AHEAD...SHOWERS IN UTAH WILL PROGRESS EASTWARD AND IMPACT OUR MOUNTAINS TONIGHT...THIS WILL BE A MINOR STORM FOR THE MOUNTAINS...WITH ONLY A COUPLE OF INCHES OF SNOW. THE COLD FRONT IS STILL ON TRACK TO MOVE THROUGH NORTHEAST COLORADO TONIGHT. NEW NAM HAS COME INTO AGREEMENT ON THE MINOR UPSLOPE EVENT FOR THE PALMER AND SOUTHERN FRONT RANGE FOOTHILLS MONDAY MORNING. TEMPERATURES AT THE TIME WILL SUPPORT SNOW...AND GOOD UPSLOPE WILL SUPPORT A FEW HOURS OF PRECIPITATION. AN INCH OF SNOW LOOKS LIKELY IN THESE AREAS. FOR MUCH OF METRO DENVER IT LOOKS A BIT WARMER...AND WE EXPECT SOME PRECIPITATION...BUT MORE OF A RAIN/ SNOW MIX IN THE EARLY MORNING. NAM DRIES OUT THE PLAINS...THE OTHER MODELS SHOW SOME PRECIPITATION...WILL LEAVE THE SCATTERED RAIN SHOWERS FOR AREAS SOUTH OF A DENVER TO AKRON LINE.

Actually that's half the story. While Denver's earliest last freeze (temps getting below 32F <or is it 32or below?>) is April 5,1977. Latest is June 8,2007. Of course moisture doesn't always come with those temps.

Earliest date of last measurable SNOWFALL is March 4,1887. (This year it was March 1st <measurable>; March 8th (actual snow falling <trace>)). Latest is June 12, 1947 (since we know it can snow with above freezing temps).
