Hey

So I moved to Colorado last week. I live in Parker and have heard in winter time snow can be a bit of a problem when it comes to transportation. I also have heard they don't clean the roads after the snow.
Having said that, I'm planning to but a car soon, my choice is VW new beetle. Would it be ok in the winter, or should I look into SUVs or 4x4, jeep or other big cars. And is there any other better way to buy a car than Craigslist?

Any Comment is highly appreciated.

Car of choice here for winter driving is the AWD Suburu. You can get a ton of info if you use our search tool and the word Suburu or AWD, etc.

VW Beetle would be fine. Get a second set of wheels and mount snow tires on them. Your car with FWD and snow tires will be more than adequate unless you live somewhere that clearance is going to be an issue which is unlikely in Parker.

Try these outfits;

CarMax - Browse used cars and new cars online they have location in Littleton

Used Cars for Sale, Used Car Dealerships, Pre-Owned Cars, Trucks, SUVs - Enterprise Car Sales location in Highlands Ranch

https://www.carsalesavis.com/

BTW, it's Subaru, not Suburu , and as DB would say, State law say all new residents must buy a Subaru, (they are all AWD), and a North Face jacket ;-)

Are you in-town in Parker, or somewhere in the woods 5 miles up a dirt road ?? If in-town, VW Beetle should be OK most days, if not you probably should not be on road anyway. If up the dirt road, and you must get out during the occasional blizzard, then some form of AWD/4WD may be a good idea.

Many thanks to three of you who replied. I will check the links you provided reed. I'm in-town in Parker and will be mainly traveling from Parker to centennial airport.

In town FWD and snow tires will be better than most cars on the road. You'll be just fine in the Beetle.

Forgot one search source.

Besides CraigsList, if your OK with dealing with the "stealerships", AutoTrader can be a good source especially if looking for a specific year/make/model. Currently they show about 50 Beetles at dealers and at 3 private parties within 25 miles of Parker.

Take a look at Search for Cars For Sale Online - Find a Car at AutoTrader.com

Good Luck......
