I am trying to make the choice on weather it is wise to relocate from Ontario to Denver.

For starters...with a Salary of $33,000.....is that good? bad?
What sort of lifestyle does that grant me?

Its a huge pay cut....but how does it compare living wise?

Thoughts/Advice...

Anything!!!!!

Well, it depends on your situation and lifestyle. If it's just you, you could "get by" on that salary. But if you'd have to live in a small apartment. A decent one bedroom would cost you at least half your salary.

Is there a reason you're considering Denver?

If you like the size/type of city Toronto is, IMO you'll be disappointed in Denver.

Definitely agree that the Denver doesn't play in the same leagues as Toronto. Compared to Ontario, California ... well then maybe.

Toronto is in Ontario Canada (not California)

I made that move about ten years ago. I hated Toronto - I loathed Toronto - so Denver was a much better fit for me. Denver is more western, open, sprawling, laid-back. Denver has better weather than TO. Toronto is more like NYC. Blech. Dark, dreary, gloomy, closed in. Denver is bright, sunny, big skies.

It's all a matter of personal preference. What is it that you are seeking?

I believe a similar comparison is Chicago vs Denver, in terms of weather, cosmopolitaness (if that's a word), etc.

Not to mention that you'd be in a whole new country and that's kind of fun too. But you'll miss Canada's healthcare system (I know I surely do!)

Seriously, if you are taking a huge pay cut to transfer to Denver, you will additionally have to factor in health care costs even if your employer provides private insurance. It's something that Canadians take for granted but down here in the US, you pay for every little medical co-pay, deductable thing, even if you are covered by insurance. It all adds up.

The GTA is much larger than Denver. Both have nice scenery, but I'd personally take the Rockies and prairie over Lake Ontario. Denver is less diverse (but has a larger Hispanic presence).

Is this a good long-term career move?

I learned to not respond to a one post which is a new poster. They ask for information and all you people dance around and give information and there is not dialogue from the OP because they are just lazy people who take advantage of others, to do their work. Have you seen any response? I say ignore this person.

I'd have to disagree. Denver is maybe comparable to San Diego, St. Louis, etc., but Chicago is the third largest city in the country. It's an enormous metropolitan area that is truly top-notch in terms of culture and what you call "cosmopolitaness." Denver is a much-smaller and much hokier city and is, thus, a long way from the Windy City.

What's more, I'll take Denver's 50-degree and sunny winters over Chicago's cloud-filled days of 20-degree cold. The weather is not really comparable, either.
