Hello All...

I thought there might be a few meteor mad mavericks & mavens out there who would know where chances might be greater to view the meteor shower midnight tonight (or to be more accurate, Wed morning)? My SO said he'll look at the map in the below article to see if we can make our way outside of the city to possibly get a better view... but, the closer to home the better.

I realize it's best viewed on the eastern North American coast... but, surely we may see something here, as well. We'll have a full thermos of French roast & some homemade muffins, so if all else is lost, at least we'll have had snacks & treats at midnight!

Has anyone ventured out to see meteor showers before with success? Any chance of seeing them in the Greenwood Village or surroundding areas?

Strong Quadrantid Meteor Shower, One of 2012's Best, Peaks Wednesday - Yahoo! News

If by some weird act of nature I actually get a decent picture (my photographic skills are grim even in broad daylight, so it shall just be a fluke if I succeed), I'll post it. Yes, that was a quasi-bribe to a soul in the know who might share their secret viewing location... if not... we have muffins!

Thank you!

My "secret" viewing location is from my deck... but that doesn't help you.
As you know, you have to get away from the city lights. East or west of Denver... maybe near Red Rocks? Or south, like Sedalia?
I don't know... maybe this article has some ideas:

Right, that link is listed in the article I previously posted. I'll check out your other links, since they offer a number of astronomical websites.

The boyfriend will eventually find something local, but he's lived in & is more familiar with Vail & Aspen... not a reasonable midnight jaunt since we're both up at 5am tomorrow.

I was hoping someone who's ventured outside for the meteor showers locally could offer a suggestion??

It was clear up here last night but the moon was so bright it washed out most of the sky. I got up again at 3 am after the moon set but I didn't see a single meteor.

Drive east on I-70 until you reach nothing but wheat fields.

Stop your car.

Look up.

Enjoy!

If you have Limon in your sights ahead you have gone a little too far.

Yeah I got up on the roof of my office building this morning but didn't see a thing, think it's just too bright in the city
