I can travel real light. Just a change of undies and socks and a toothbrush. I don't guess there's anyway to avoid the grouping by TSA pervs.

Well in my opinion it's better to carry on anywhere you can, I hate waiting for baggage. You also are many times more likely to have your stuff lost if you check it

If all you have are "a change of undies and socks and a toothbrush", then why would you need to check your bag? Why pay the extra $25 to check a bag if you don't need to? Isn't a small carry-on all you need?

You have to go through the same security procedures whether you have a carry-on with you or not.

Some airlines don't charge, and if you don't carry on like toothpaste and all that stuff it's slightly easier.

DIA isn't usually busy though I flew out at xmas and maybe waited 3 minutes in line

TSA checkpoint pat-downs have nothing to do with whether or not you check a bag. If you have a bag that fits in the bins (22" wheels out) then take it onboard. If you need more stuff then check it - easy as that.

Based on your OP you answered your own question.

Someone told me it takes less time to get thru security if you carry on. What you say sounds right.

Not correct. The security clerks have no idea whether you've checked a bag or not.

They won't grope you unless you are chosen to go through the radiating machine, and refuse. And you are correct, they DO grope you... well sort of... they will use the back of their hand to touch your package. Just saying this, in case anyone would like to be aware of what to expect.

Did you repeatedly set off the alarm? I choose lanes without the body scanners* (only metal detectors,) never set them off and fly right through - never dealing with anyone.

*which sadly are becoming fewer and fewer
