As a real estate broker, I used the Map Search function in our MLS.

I highly recommend renting first to get your feet wet and explore the areas before you settle down and buy

@2bindenver: Was that a plug ? but now I can understand how you came about this info. Gives me a little hope then after we get that and start looking .

@azcater: that is definetly going to be the plan. I wouldn't have enough time to do some serious looking anyways if I moved for the job, basically will be forced to rent for a while. Thanks for the input though, nice to hear that my plan agrees with many others ideas.

I agree, find a rental, get to know the area. I rented in 3 different areas until I finally bought a house. I think you will find a lot of decent places in S. Denver, the hard part is deciding where.

Commuting into DTC stinks, you might want to do a test drive to your office to see if the commute is tolerable for you.

Really that bad to travel into the DTC huh? My plan would be to live fairly close to avoid that... but when looking to buy I was thinking still being within 5 miles of it. Could it still be bad even if I was that close? Do you work in the DTC?

Thanks,

Three things about commuting to the tech center:

1. Major employment center for the area from Lincoln to I-225 along I-25.
2. Major highway runs right through to parts north, including the 2nd largest employment center, downtown.
3. Sunshine glare. I suggest you look east of work.

Thanks 2b. I will keep that in mind. Funny you bring up the sunshine glare. That actually REALLY bothers me on my commutes in the area here.

Thanks again,
John

John,

If you've done I-294 or the Eisenhower inbound before for a commute, Denver traffic is nothing compared to that.

I'd say commuting around here is 355 south in the AM and north in the PM. Some stop and go. Lots of cars. Not that bad unless it's snowing or there's an accident.

Thanks Steve! That gives me a good idea... but I'm not sure if that traffic you're talking about is going into Denver.. Or going to the DTC. I will be going into the DTC.

Depending how far north you're traveling southbound to get to DTC, I25 can suck at times. But it's not that bad. That's why I said 355 N in the AM. Heavy. Can easily backup, but not the end of the world.
