I've gone to Visionworks at SW Plaza, and have had no problems. They have always been cheaper than Lenscrafters or some of the others.
There are some around town including Park Meadows. They have a relationship with independent optometrists who are not too expensive. IIRC, it is less than $100 for an exam for contacts and glasses.
