Also, the greater Denver Tech Center area (SE Denver/ Greenwood Village/ Centennial/ Lone Tree) has a number of really nice, clean modern hotels (mostly catering to business travelers). In Broomfield/Westminster (halfway between Denver and Boulder) there are a number of nice hotels, including the Omni @ Interlocken resort. The places near DIA are in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do and nothing good to eat. No reason to stay there unless if it's for a one night layover. There are a number of old hotels near the former Stapleton airport-- I'd stay away from those too.

Are you sure the treatment facility is in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver (just NW of downtown Denver)-- and not Highlands Ranch (south suburbs)? I'm not aware of any medical facilities in Highlands (doesn't mean they don't exist of course). May want to double check that if you aren't totally sure.
Oh, so you wouldn't like to stay at the Four Seasons? Marriott, etc? There are some very high-end hotels downtown. And as for the Stapleton hotels, I've had family stay at the Double Tree/Red Lion/Holiday Inn and all of them are nice and have been re-done inside. I've never been in the one that's sort of "pyramidical", but I've heard it's nice too. Why would you judge hotels you've never been in?

I have been inside a bunch of them for events, to meet people, etc, just haven't stayed there. The staff at most of the downtown hotels are a bunch of Nazis, the worst being at the Sheraton. Anybody walking in the front door is looked upon as a suspect and is interrogated by all their goons standing around in suits all day with nothing to do. It's probably to keep the homeless people out, but everybody has to suffer. Suburban hotels tend to be much more welcoming, more laid back, not to mention you don't have to pay for parking (at least not in the Denver area).

Agreed. I'll add the Hyatt and the Curtis to that list.

The "pyramidical" one I suspect you're thinking of is the Renaissance, on the west side of Quebec from Stapleton. It's perfectly fine, though if staying there the poster may be more comfortable with wandering the Stapleton area proper (east side of Quebec) than going further west. That said, the west side of the street is just older and more run down than any sort of serious problem.

The Sheraton downtown is also a perfectly fine (if not particularly special) hotel that tends to have pretty good rates for a comfortable stay. (Disclaimer: I frequently work at the Sheraton.)
