I'm looking to rent a house in the Denver area. Is there a good website to go to besides craigslist? I've googled but all I keep finding are apartments.

Find the neighborhood you want to live in.
Drive there and walk every block.

realtor.com has an option to look for SFH rentals; you can select on a city name or a zip code, etc, but I cannot find any SFH's for rent on that site.

I did find some SFH's on craigslist but there aren't a lot of them; the market for rentals is hot, best bet is to simply drive around an area that you like or put an ad on CL in the Housing Wanted section so that landlords can find you....

There's a site called hotpads.com that has a good selection of home rentals. You can search by city or even ZIP if you want to live in a particular area. The interface is a little clunky and frustrating, but it does have some homes not on Craigslist.

Having just gone through this exact same search over the past several months, I found that Craigslist turned out to be the most complete and convenient listing service. Not sure if you're in the same situation as me, where you are not yet in Denver so need to find something online, but if so we found that many of the people listing would send us more pictures for properties that we were interested in.

Not in Denver yet. I'll try hotpads. I like craigslist but am finding a lot of fake ads. :/ Thanks!

padmapper will dig into craigslist for you, so you don't have to (with address/etc)

You could just contact a local realtor. They could help you search, and they get paid by the landlord (not you). realtor.com shows current rentals

It is my impression that renting a house in denver these days is tough, not a lot of rentals. . .

You could also try rentals.com. Once you put in the city and go to the next page it lets you choose the option of just looking for homes without including apartments.
