Are dogs allowed on buses? I would be taking the bus from Broomfield into Boulder.

Yes, if you carry the dog in a cage or container.

Do it off peak when not crowed. if he's well behaved and quiet I can't see any would have an issue. If someone pipes up about allergies or the driver makes a case about it just take the next one.

Better to ask forgiveness than permission

Call RTD and ask, but the rule is that it must be in a cage on your lap.

I rode on RTD for over 20 years and I never saw anyone successfully bring a large dog onto an RTD bus. I think he would have to try a lot of busses before he would find a driver that would let him bring his dog aboard. The driver would be risking disciplinary action if someone complained. Plus there would be issues with where the dog would sit. There isn't exactly a lot of aisle space on those intercity busses.

As a matter of fact, in all the cities I've ever ridden public transit in, Toronto is the only place I've ever seen people bring large dogs on to the busses and streetcars. Other then Service Dogs of course.

Hmmmm - So one could theoretically put on super dark glasses, carry a cane which happens to be of a specific color, dress up their dog like a service dog and board the RTD bus - Theoretically !

I believe the dog would have to have an approved Service Dog harness, and I think the driver could request to see the dog's Service Dog ID Card, if he had any doubts. It's not like like they haven't thought about that before. Plus most bus drivers see probably dozens of Service Dogs a day. They probably have a pretty good idea if the dog is legit or not.
