I've been reading old posts about getting tickets and people have been posting about traffic school.

However, when we asked the sheriff who issued my husband the citation this morning about going to traffic school, he said that the state of Colorado does not offer traffic school.

He got the ticket at HR and we live in Castle Rock. Is there traffic school in Denver but not in DC?

has anyone actually gone to court before?? He was going 20+ so it's 6 points but if he pays by a certain date, it will be knocked down to 4 points.

It would be really nice if he could go to traffic school. He doesn't know if it's worth going to court. We don't know what this will do with our Insurance.

thoughts? advice? (other than don't speed anymore)

A ticket already?

Call the court and see what advice they give you. You might be able to plead down the charges if you talk to the city attorney.

PS. One of the problems living in Castle Rock is the long commute, which, if you are running late, means that you end up speeding to get to work on time.

Just. my two cents.

Contact the court and ask them. They are the ones who could offer it to you. Not the sheriff.

it wasn't for work, it was actually his day off, funny enough.

I'll have him call the court and go from there. Thanks!

My DH just got a speeding ticket in Kiowa, and we did the research...you can't have a ticket dismissed or points reduced by taking defensive driving or going to traffic school in the State of Colorado. At least not without going to court and asking the judge. We paid it within 2 days, and he's only taking a hit of 2 points on his driving record.

oh Good to know, Thank you. He's going to call the court and see what he can do. He will be getting 4 points so that's pretty significant to not try something to help it.

Almost every ticket is automatically reduced to 2 points if paid on time. The only ones that are not are wreckless/careless driving some police departments give if they get called out to an accident. Getting a ticket to zero is not common.
