I used to go to Southern California, but my mom just got transferred to Corpus Christie TX, so I may give that beach a try later this summer.

Don't really have a need to go to a beach, it's insignificant compared to the mountains for me. I am going to Hawaii in a month but it's to see all the sights there, not really for the beach

Mazatlan in three hours on Frontier Airlines. Reservoirs gross me out. They're not spring fed like most real lakes, and in summer become giant petri dishes. Boulder, Chatfield, and Cherry Creek reservoirs have been closed numerous times for unsafe e. coli bacteria levels.

I go to lifetime fitness for their "beach entry" pool

I mean, if you are in san fran what beach are you talking about? NOt a beach where you can go swimming in unless you like it cold

Bugs - very low bug count.

First stop in any beach adventure is the airport. Unless you would like a beach with no to very little water. Then you can go to the Great Sand Dunes. Lots and lots of sand. But only a little water during the spring.

Although I've swum in the reservoirs for triathlon training they really are completely disgusting.

"Beaches" here not really so great. We have the mountains instead, and they are pretty amazing. Better trade in my opinion.

Bugs are not a major issue. Some spiders, though the dangerous ones don't seem too common. Otherwise pretty benign and sparse little bugs.

Roaches are almost non-existent. Downtown has some sewer roaches that show up from time to time, particularly in older buildings and on the street, but again, not real common and pretty unlikely that you'd have to live with them (been there, done that, somewhere else.) Like someone else said, too cold and dry in the winter.

You might keep an eye out for bedbugs, but it seems like if you're careful they can be avoided. Dense apartment complexes might be worth avoiding unless they make a big point of being bedbug free. Medium density apartments seem to be fine for the most part. Generally avoid living in Glendale is what I've heard, though someone else from Glendale might pipe in with an alternate viewpoint.

Roaches will make it anywhere and everywhere... but there are less of them in Denver.

I still remember when my dad bought a fridge at a garage sale and brought it home. My mom went for a drink in the middle of the night, turned on the light and screamed as the roaches that came in with the fridge scattered.

We got rid of them, but it took a while.

Other than a person or two who lived in truly disgusting homes I can't say there were a lot of them around.

If you know that having a beach is important to you, don't move here. There are no bugs.

Also, Denver is a great place, but "exciting" is not a word I'd use to describe it. "Hanging out" fits it much better.
