We are considering moving from the East Coast to The Burbs of Colorado while working in Denver (S. Garfield St). Anyway, was wondering if anyone could give some direction in regards to very nice Suburbs with great schools I should be looking in for a house. Don't want a huge commute but want a nice house in the burbs, decent land, good schools etc...
Any thoughts would be much appreciated..

You need to be a bit more specific. The metro area is rather large and parts appeal more to some than others. Price range? How many bedrooms? How big of a lot? New or old construction? What is your definition of a reasonable commute?

Yeah, sorry. First time on a thread... When I say land I mean at least .5 acres, the houses I'm seeing in Cherry Creek seem to have tiny yards. Probably looking to spend between 600k-900k. A commute of 1/2 hour or lower would be ideal. 2 young kids so quality of life (suburb life) and schools are very important.
TKS

1/2 acre lots or larger are rare. You will likely pay at least $750k for anything that has that.

here are your resources for home-finding:

Coloproperty.com - Your source for finding properties, real estate professionals and related real estate information in Colorado
Colorado HomeFinder | Colorado's better way to buy or sell a home
REcolorado.com - brought to you by Metrolist Inc.

On the last one you can search by zip code, so this zip code map may be useful:

You're best bet to get a good geographical layout of Denver & its burbs, frankly, is google maps.

Google Maps

just throw in Denver, Co and you'll be able to see all the suburbs around Denver from the far southeast (Parker) and clockwise up to Golden, the burbs between Boulder/Denver, and then out towards the airport.

At your price range, you should be able to find some nice properties in any of those burbs.

I don't live in the Denver area (but of course, plan to some day!) and don't currently have kids, so can't give you any direct firsthand knowledge. I know Parker and Highlands Ranch can be more than 1/2 commute to downtown Denver in the morning. And my personal taste swings more towards the West and Northwest burbs, primarily because I like Boulder...ideally its where I'd move to if money wasn't an option. So if I were you I'd look at Golden, Arvada, Westminister, Broomfield, Louisville, Superior, Lafayette...

...but I'm not you! hope the info helps.

i agree with others, .5 may be hard to find, particularly in the new developments. sounds like you are working in cherry creek. You may want to look in Greenwood Village's older communities (sundance hills, etc) or even around southmoor/southern hills- you may not get .5 but good communitites and good elementary schools in both. Also Littleton would not be too bad and the older communities have larger yards. Coventry may fit into your range (at the upper end) and has a great, quiet community feel with larger lots.

I'm also partial to the northwest burbs and would suggest Pony Estates (Broomfield) and Park Lake (east Boulder). In my opinion, Broomfield has a better quality of (suburban) life.

Up until a week ago, I drove from Parker (Hilltop area) to downtown Denver everyday (Mon-Fri) for 3 1/2 years with no real traffic problems. It would only take me 30 minutes to get to work.........of course my job started at 7AM and 6:30AM traffic on I 25 north is pretty much "flying" at 70 mph.

Thanks All for the help!!
How long do you think it would take if I left about 1/2 hour later? What time did you leave work, how was that traffic? Did you like living in Parker? Any other cities you'd reccomend a bit closer that have good schools etc....
Tks Again
