I'm looking to move to Colorado very soon, but I'm having a hard time deciding which city to move to. My plan is to work, go to school (for nursing) and still be able to hit the slopes a couple days a week. So far, Denver seems like the best bet. Having to be a student seems to be what makes this difficult. I just wanted to get an opinion to see if there's a better option out there. Thanks!

Your first priority would be the best nursing school that meets your needs; gives you the best education at what you can afford and obviously where you can gain admission in a selective schools of nursing. Putting that concern behind the idea of skiing is ridiculous and one would question your resolve to be educated or work in the nursing profession.

Going up once a week, most weeks during the ski season... maybe, if you have the time and money. Living in Denver and going up skiing several times a week? Not gonna happen. Read this thread:

The real question you should be asking is what are the best nursing schools in Colorado (assuming you are dead set on moving to Colorado), not where is the best city to live in Colorado. Go to the best school/program you can get accepted into/ afford, and if you can't get accepted into/ afford the best programs in Colorado, then get your degree in your home state at a lower cost.

I think getting up to the slopes a few times/week is a bit unrealistic since you would probably be very busy with school and coursework. With that said, maybe somewhere like Boulder would be worth a look, though I'm not sure about nursing programs there or nearby, since the CU nursing programs are probably at the Anschutz Campus in Aurora.

Have you looked into nursing school at all? My daughter goes to nursing school in Oregon, and she has classes and clinicals five days a week. I think you are dreaming to think that you can go to school, do homework, have a job, and still have time to ski a couple of days a week.

You said "having to go to school makes this difficult". Did you mean that you are having trouble finding a nursing school close to the slopes, or that you are realizing that the schools are all on the Front Range and not close to the ski areas?

Concentrate on your education, not ski slopes.

I echo everyone that says this is not a realistic plan. Nursing school is not easy--most of my friends from undergrad have their BSN. You might have more time once you graduate, since I know many people who do 12 hr shifts 3 days a week. However, a lot of recent grads I know work nights, which kind of screws with everything.
