The short answer is yes.

Colorado's school of choice law says that a person can attend a public school anywhere inside or outside his/her school district provided that there is space available.

School districts may impose some restrictions on the school of choice, including:
- not accepting students into the desired school if the desired school is at capacity, and
- creating an application process and allowing S of C students to apply/enroll only at certain times of the year.

I know D'Evelyn in the Jeffco school district has a wait list a mile long for their 7th grade. It is a 7th-12th school. I have friends whose kids are #239 on the wait list. It totally depends on which school and the given year that you're looking to open enroll.

D'Evelyn is a magnet school, which means it does not have an attendance area. It has one elementary school, Dennison (also a magnet school), that feeds into it. Students who go to school at Dennison are guaranteed a spot in D'Evelyn. The rest of the students who attend have to apply for their lottery held in January.

D'Evelyn only takes students up to the 9th grade. After that, you cannot enroll in their school.
