Not downtown, but if you have a car it's not too bad of a drive. Always my go-to.

Pho 95 Noodle House & Grill | Vietnamese Restaurant

Definitely hit up Snooze on Park & Larimer for breakfast.

Okay PHO is of great abundance in denver. I know of in the Denver Tech Center we have Pho Saigon that is great.

Yet I would say that S. Federal BLVD is where it is at for Pho and more. Pho 95, 96, and DUY are all tearing up the yelp reviews. Not only that but the Ban MI at Vinh Xuong Bakery is TO DIE FOR. $3.00 for AMAZ-OMG-ing

That S Federal Area is really the area too look for asian/vietnamese/etc

(FYI: Multiple PHO 95's and stuff around. Yelp is your friend, just don't trust DENVER reviews of pizza places. They have no idea what they are talking about [i moved here from Connecticut])

The problem with yelp is that you have so many people giving opinions on things like Pho, but they have no reference for what 'good' pho really is. So, if you are looking for a great restaurant with food that tastes good and good service, yelp is good. But, if you are looking for 'really good pho' i.e. like it would be in Vietnam, yelp can steer you wrong

Pho in Vietnam always seems like it has much more fish sauce than it does here
But, for sure you can get great pho in the Alameda/Federal area.

Since the topic of Pho is being discussed I wanted to reiterate how good Pho Lee is. I was just there again today and it's some of the best pho I've had in Denver. Same family as the 95/96 crowd but way less crowded and over in DTC for you southeast people that want something closer than heading over to Federal.

A reliable method I've discovered with yelp is to find a few reviewers you really like that have similar tastes as you, then follow their posts to at least get a good gauge of things. I realize it's all subjective but I've found this works pretty well for me.

I agree, as yelp has gotten popular you have to be VERY careful on its recommendations. I really got burned here by some really crappy pizza (some Argentina Pizza place downtown, i've had better pizza from my cafeteria at work).

Yet if you go down S. Federal you know those DIVES are the right place.

Anybody been to the Fort? The wife and I have a reservation there a week from tomorrow for our anniversary. What do you recommend there?

I have been to the Fort in Morrison. The atmosphere is what you are paying for...not the food in my opinion. It is quite expensive and very much lacking. I was excited to try it for my anniversary as well. Disappointed. I also have many friends that did the same. We all thought for a special occasion, it would be a winner. Not so much. It's great to go there if your company is footing the bill for a holiday work party or the like....they bring in corporate parties all the time. But for a regular meal on your dime, there are other places that are much better.
If you want to escape the city and try a place in a more quaint area, there is The Bistro in Evergreen and The Kitchen on the Creek in downtown Evergreen which are both nice and the food is great. Happy Anniversary. Sorry to sound like such a downer.
