I don't know what the "best" one is, but my family and I have Cingular and it seems to work just fine.

Default Best Cell Provider

I am trying to get everyone's opinion on cell providers. I am very new to the area, and my current contract with AT&T is up, so I am looking at my options. I have family that lives in Conifer and service can be pretty spotty up their with AT&T, but its fine in metro. Who has the best coverage for the metro area and near-by foothills?

My opinion from spending a few weeks in Denver and CO in general:

In the metro area I was very happy with AT&T. I had solid coverage in all of the southern suburbs and the metro area, including indoors(which isn't the case in LA where I'm from).

In the outlying areas(like along I70 in the hills and mtns), I had better coverage with Sprint. I lost connection city to city with AT&T, Sprint would maintain a connection.

I love T-mobile, they are cheap and great coverage. I have seen AT&T have more powerful transmitters, so where I get no signal underground friends still get reception.

AT&T may have a heavier concentration of the 850 band for EDGE/3G in Denver, which penetrates walls/obstacles better. to me, it seems they're doing it at the expense of the 1900 band, which travels better over open distances(thus the loss of reception between towns in the rural areas).

Maybe someone here works for them and can fill us in?

I knew a handful of people with it, and if you don't have a problem they are fine. If you do, then I hope it's near then end of the contract and you can go somewhere else. They don't do anything to solve the issue, and try and pass the buck till you stop.

I have Verizon and haven't had any problems. Whenever I've had a problem with billing or service, they have worked to resolve it pretty quickly. I don't get great service in Westminster where I live (2 bars in my apartment), but don't have any problems with dropped calls or no service. I think Verizon is a little more expensive than some other carriers, but I think you get what you pay for. I've had Sprint in the past and had many dropped calls and reception problems.

I started here with AT&T and was constantly dealing with dropped calls or no service. I switched about 5 years ago to Verizon and haven't had any problems with their service or phone calls. They've always been very helpful with my questions or when needing to make a change in service whether I walk in the store or call their 1-800.
