In the dead of winter, and even well into March/April, it is greener there than here.
And, I'll take driving in 103 degrees over driving in snow ANY, no EVERY day.

If it is as green as it currently is, I would say marginally greener at best. We have plenty of evergreen trees in Denver that balance out the palm trees here. You said the leaves turn here so I am assuming that the decidiuos trees do lose their leaves and there is a complete lack of grass on all medians. I actually started talking to a guy on my flight who had to move here from Denver for work 6 years ago. I was not being negative about El Paso since he lives here, but I asked him how he liked it. He said he was trying every which way to get back to Colorado. Complained about the dust storms here.

To each their own. I think no place is perfect. Its just a matter of which extremes you are willing to deal with if you want seasons. For me snow is much better than 103 degrees in early June and dust storms.

Amen. They don't call it Hell Paso for nothing. Anybody who complains about Denver being "isolated" should spend some time down there. Wanna take in an NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL game? Hope ya like driving. The nearest pro sports team is 450 miles away - in Phoenix. Dallas Cowboy fan? Jerrydome is 600 miles away. You can drive for 4 hours in almost any direction from El Paso and you'll see more cacti and roadrunners than people.

I agree 100%.

And since you were nice enough to provide pictures, here are a few from when I lived in Las Cruces, the first was taken one November, the second in December, hence the Christmas decorations.

The last one is of my backyard during a hail storm one July.

Anyway, enjoying it here immensely now - looking forward to those 90+ degree temps this weekend.

The world is a better place with people like you to point out errors that people commit.

I lived in Alabama and the heat, humidity and bugs was just a miserable experience for me.
Having spent 33 summers in the Denver area, I can attest that the general word for summer temps is "hot". Average high in for the last 3 weeks of July is 90. Prior to that, the average highs in July range from 87 to 89. That is hot. Many days are much higher than 90. The average # of 90 degree days here is 33. In the last few years, we've seen 50-60 days of >90 temps.

I don't think I could tolerate Alabama.
