I am a 28, single, professional woman with two dogs looking to move to the Denver/Boulder area. My job has two offices, one in Arvada and one in Broomfield - but I don't know which I will be at at this time. I currently have a house and since I have two dogs, I would like to move to a house but don't want to lose the social scene. What parts of Denver should I be looking at? I would ideally like to be able to walk to coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and shops as well as be close to hiking and bike paths. Any suggestions on towns/suburbs/areas I should be looking at would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

The easiest would be Olde Town Arvada. It has an small town downtown type area and will soon get a light rail line.

Other places to look would be Wheat Ridge, Highland, West Highland and Golden.

Default ¿Quanto Dinero?

What is your purchase budget?
How much land do you need?
How many bed/bath?

One quick suggestion would be Belmar in Lakewood if you are looking to purchase a condo. It is set up as living over retail and has shops, restaurants, bars, movie theater, supermarkets, etc... all within walking distance. There is access to many walking/hiking trails nearby too. Belmar has many residents in your age bracket that have similar wants and needs.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions! This really helps because a lot of the other posts refer mostly to the downtown area/Capitol Hill/Washington Park/etc areas, which seems to be much more the urban and condo/apartment living.

davidbarnes, to answer your questions - I don't need much land at all, just a regular yard - actually, the smaller yard the better because i don't really like mowing the grass - but just somewhere for the dogs to run around. I currently have an 1,100 sq ft - 2 bed, 2 bath and would be looking for something similar. Looking for something in about the $180-250K range...give or take a little.

Default My suggestions

1. Be prepared for sticker shock. Denver is more expensive than Kirkwood, MO.
2. Be prepared to move quickly. Inventory in Denver is way down and desirable houses sell in a few days.

My suggestions are:
Denver - Regis, Sunnyside and Berkeley. (You can afford any further south.)
Arvada - centered around Olde Town Arvada.
Wheat Ridge - east of Wadsworth

Start looking with Zillow (or similar) and get a feel for the greater Denver market.
Price, lot size, house size, Walk Score.
