Hi Guys,
I have general admission seats for a show at Redrocks Ampithester on September 21st? I think I will be all the way towards the top. Just wondering if it very windy near the top or if it just a matter of temperature. What can I expect for 7:00PM in Redrocks Park at the end of September?
Thanks!

Default Redrocks Ampitheater

Does anybody know if it will be windy in the general admission seats because of the elevation? I have tickets for a show in September and wanted to know how many warm clothes to bring.
Thanks!

If late in Sept. it could be snowing with the wind howling or it could be hot as Hades with not a bit of movement to the air. Early in Sept. there is less chance of snow.

Excerpts from:
Denver Weather

Denver Fall: September & October

Denver fall averages cooler and crisp temperatures, but conditions vary greatly to reflect the fickle transition from summer to winter. Autumn leaves are beautiful throughout Denver and even more so in the mountains, where bright golden aspen groves are a popular destination for tourists and Denverites alike. The first snow usually falls in the city in late September through early October, after which snowstorms become unpredictable in frequency and magnitude and alternate with both warm, sunny days and chilly, breezy ones. Denver ski resorts begin opening in mid- to late October.

What to Pack

Whether hiking boots or ski boots, outdoor gear is a must, as the best way to experience Denver and the surrounding area is through spending time outside. Overall, Colorado style is more about functionality than fashion. Sunglasses and sunscreen are absolutely necessary no matter the season—the elevation of the “Mile High City” really does make the sun stronger, and during wintertime this intensity is further magnified through reflection off the snow. Clothing-wise, summers are hot enough for shorts and sleeveless tops whereas winters necessitate warm jackets, hats and gloves. Fall and spring can be a mixture of the two extremes, and so layers of different weights are the best way to prepare.

Check the weather the week before, the night before and the day of the show. Predicting the weather for September in July is more difficult than telling you who will win the Super Bowl.

Further is fun!

First of all, to quote davebarnes, "Data are your friends."

I fixed your selective highlighting of the possibility of snow in September.

Is it POSSIBLE that snow will fall in September? Absolutely.

Is it LIKELY that snow will fall in September? Absolutely NOT.

Here are exerpts from Denver's cold season statistics from the National Weather Service (a group I trust more than denver.com):

- Average date of the first freeze in Denver: October 7.
- Number of times the first freeze has occurred in September in the past 10 years: 1 (9.18.2006)

- Average date of the first snow in Denver: October 19.
- Number of times the first snow has occurred in September in the past 10 years: 0
- Number of times the first snow has not occurred until November in the past 10 years: 4 (2003, 2004, 2008, 2010)

- Last time snow fell in September was 9.28.2000. Snowfall amount was 0.2 inches. Interestingly enough, the last 90º day of the year for 2000 was just 11 days earlier (9.17.2000)

This is the best advice here.

One more thing:

With a General Admission you may or may not be at the top. Check the seating chart for the show you are attending. General Admission is first come, first served, so if you get in line early, you get the best possible seats.

For a show at Red Rocks later in the concert season, I usually dress in layers (i.e., tank top under a t-shirt), then bring a thick hoodie. I always bring an umbrella (they allow small ones), and usually a light blanket for sitting on that can be used to keep warm if necessary. You might want to check to see if the whole show is general admission - I have only been to one concert at Red Rocks that had assigned seating. During that show, GA started at row 30. Get there early, and you won't have to be at the top of the Amphitheater.

Look at the possibility of inclement weather as a possible bonus.

A cold and misty day in 1983 produced perhaps one of the most memorable concerts ever.
