Hi Everyone:

Recently purchased a home and the backyard is in need of some greenery. We're down near the Castle Pines/Castle Rock area - can you suggest any garden or nursery stores that are competitively priced in or around that area? (We are willing to drive a bit for a good deal.) Specifically, we're looking for an excellent deal on pine trees.

Thank you!

Hi - I like Nick's Garden Center in Aurora and Tagawa's. Have fun!

I don't have a recommendation for a specific nursery, but if you wait until September, many, if not most of the local nurseries will have good sales. In any case, late fall is a good time for planting trees here, while summer is not.

Agreed, and if you're in the mood for a drive, there's the Tree Farm that advertises on TV "Take I-25 exit 235 , then five miles west to the Tree Farm" (Longmont area). We got some great deals on trees there when we first bought our house. In the fall, they have these "buy one, get another for $1" deals on many trees. They have more than just trees, too.

Update:

I got a flyer from the Tree Farm. They are having a "Buy one, get another for 50c" sale starting Aug. 22.

You're welcome. Have fun landscaping. Just yesterday, my older daughter age 29 was visiting and she deliberately parked her car in the shady part of our driveway. I said, "this is what we were trying to accomplish all those years ago". (24 years in the house; she was 5 when we bought it.)
