Best non-downtown location to live for bar trivia fanatics (Denver: loan, house)

My company is closing our office here in Cincinnati and moving us. Of our options the best is Denver, easily. We are bar trivia addicts, so that will be a major consideration in where we look for a house. HOWEVER, we won't be able to live in a very urban location because my wife has MS, and we must have a ranch with no/very limited steps. We also have dogs, so we want a yard. One of the reasons for all the trivia is that we've found it helps her MS therapeutically by improving her memory and thinking process (maybe we should write the games off as a medical expense! )

Given those two limitations, what areas would offer us the biggest choice of bar trivia venues? We are willing to drive 5+ miles to play (in fact, we live in an overly suburban location now and regularly drive 25+ miles to play, but we'd rather avoid that in our new location).

Budget: Up to about 280k. Purchase. Boston Terriers.

Eastern Wheat Ridge. Ranches and convenient to downtown.

2. FYI. The real-estate market in greater is a sellers' market. Low inventory. About 1/2 of normal. You will need a buyer's agent who knows the neighborhood you want to live in.

I'm not an expert on bar trivia locations but I'll make an assumption that they are downtown bars. As you say in your post, not a good area for you because of dogs. So my next question is where is your work office? You will want to pick a house in that area and drive downtown for the bars. Denver isn't that big so it won't be that hard except on game days.

The office is also downtown, at 16th and Broadway.

There are a lot of bungalows (ranches) in Wash Park. Pricey, though.

You will not find a 4,000 square foot piece of dirt with no home on it in Wash Park for $280,000, let alone a house.

As for trivia, I think you will be able to find this in pretty much any suburb. Since work is downtown, I would look to Littleton with light rail access along Santa Fe.

Probably not. I didn't see that. But if they were willing to go higher, well, a LOT higher, Wash Park would work. There are also lots of bungalows in the Sloan's Lake area. I don't know about prices.

Not affordable. You cannot even get a [decent] bungalow in Berkeley for $280K.

I suggested eastern Wheat Ridge because:
1. Easy access to downtown via the #38 bus (30 minute frequency)
2. Easy access via automobile.
3. Affordable with lots of 1950s-70s ranches.
4. Up and coming as people who cannot afford West Highland and Berkeley are starting to look there.
