My job will be in Stapleton/Northfield (the W on the map) and I wanted to know how bad the commute to this area from a Lakewood neighborhood would be. The only reason I'd live there is to maybe have a mountain view and to be in their proximinity for reacreational activities. If the commute would be too grueling, especially during rush hour then I don't think it'd be worth it. Other than that, we have settled on any areas in the red circle on the map, but may need a little more guidance as we are going to look in a week or so. Looking for a 2BR with a $2000 rent maximum, preferrably a little less, in an area walking/biking distance to a few restaurants/bars and a grocer. No kids yet so schools not an issue.

You're probably looking at 45 min. to an hour each way, depending on traffic (and where in Lakewood). There's really no direct path between the two and taking the freeways would be the 70 to 25 south to the 6th Ave. Frwy west. All pretty bad traffic.

Thanks - I'll likely just scrap the Lakewood idea and stay somewhere around City Park

You'll have better mountain views (entire front range, Pikes Peak/Longs Peak/sunsets) from the streets, parks, and maybe your home in Stapleton than you will in Lakewood.

Being closer to the mountains in Lakewood you'll mostly see the "wall" of Lookout Mountain (in many places, not all) Not a bad place or view, but just different vistas.

*edit to add: You'll have great views from City Park of the skyline and mountains. (maybe not your exact house, but from the park areas around it) and a much easier commute not having to cross downtown.

I would look in Park Hill with your budget and job location.

Get as close to the 2300 block of Cherry as you can.

Lakewood commute sucks. I have friends that live in Stapleton and I hate the drive from Wash Park to go visit them. Can't imagine doing it during rush hour every day.

North Lakewood commute isn't bad as long as your near I-70. But south of 6th avenue will be hell.

City Park is better than Lakewood for DINKs anyways.
