Hello everyone first and foremost I want to let you know that I come in peace and as an obtainer of knowledge. I have much appreciation for the Denver area and in fact considered it 4 years ago before moving to MSP. I think it’s a great area with many high quality of life attributes. I am posting because this summer my wife and I are considering the area for our summer vacation. We like visiting cities with a variety of outdoor activities, and cultural amenities (we fell in love with the Bay Area last June). We are curious about the available outdoor activities Denver has to offer. I know your thinking your kidding right, but having no ties to the area I want to know what the locals would suggest things like “you would probably enjoy _____, or you guys should check out____. My wife has been to Boulder before for a conference and really enjoyed the Flatirons. We enjoy hiking, MTB/road cycling, kayaking, and hitting the beach (lake, river, etc..). In Denver would these activities be found in the city, or located throughout the metro? We were thinking of staying in the city of Denver where ever the main entertainment district(s) is/are, and spending our days doing our outdoor activities. Any resources, older threads related to this subject, suggestions, advice, or constructive critisicms would greatly be appreciated!

Cheers!

Aside from bike riding along the cherry creek trail, most of the outdoor activities are going to be west of denver. The closest areas are green mountain and red rocks (highly recommended). But boulder might be a better bet for a city that has culture, nightlife and immediately accessible outdoor activities.
