I am hoping someone on this board can point me in the right direction. I'm a ChemE with my MBA degree, looking to relocate to Denver. Since I just finished my MBA program, I've decided that it's time to make my move. My wife and I fell in love with Denver when we visited family there last year. I need some pointers on how to get into the job market in Denver. I'm posted on monster, career builder, engcen, etc. but no luck yet. Any tips on companies to contact or recruiters in the Denver market? I'm looking to use both degrees, but I am not opposed to starting lower and working my way up. Thanks, in advance, for any advice you can give.

It sounds like you are doing the right thing. I read on the these threads about getting a local (Denver) phone number using Vonage??? It may allow you to appear like a local??? I don't know. What about applying to individual companies?

Charles:

I've applied at a few companies in the area (consulting firms, including CH2M and some smaller firms, but CH2M currently doesn't have any active openings for chemEs) but I have yet to find many companies (manufacturing) in the area that utilize ChemEs (too bad Coors is never hiring ...). I've looked around on the chamber of commerce website to try and find more companies, but without much luck. Any other resources you know of?

Big Aerospace? Lockheed, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Raytheon, Aerospace Corporation, United Launch Alliance?

What about contacting the Chem Engineering departments at the University of Colorado or the Colorado School of Mines or other universities in the region and asking to speak with an advisor?

What about just plain old googling "chemical engineers" denver?

I've looked at the aerospace companies - but they generally do not hire ChemEs (usually EEs or MEs). Thanks for the tip on contacting the local schools, I'll have to do that soon - maybe their career placement offices can give me some ideas too. I've done the google search, and every now and then I'll come across a good website, but it seems to be hit and miss with so many search results. Thanks again for your help, any other tips are appreciated!
