There will be eventually. The line coming up 225 (that ends in an odd place) will extend north and connect into the line that goes from Union Station to DIA via Stapleton.

Atlanta has had an excellent heavy rail system in MARTA http://www.itsmarta.com/getthere/schedules/index-rail.htm (broken link) since the late 1970's but despite it having very high ridership many politicians in the metro area and especially the state of Georgia have done everything in their power to hamper or stop it's growth.

Just recently the State shot down a measure that would allow MARTA to use it's own reserve funds for operational expenses resulting in the possibility of cut backs in service. So while Denver has been surging forward it looks like Atlanta may be going backwards when it comes to public transit.

One of the the benefits of a more liberal society I guess. I fear the conservative anti public transit naysayers that have so much power in Georgia may never allow MARTA to come close to it's potential.

#1..They need to get some new Light Rail service on the eastern side of I-25 going down into the area around the Centennial Airport, so people from up north can commute by Light Rail to their jobs down there.

Light Rail service within the "quad" bounded by 225 (on top), 25 (to left), So. Parker Road (to right), and 470 (on bottom).

#2..Maybe a few faster express trains that skip some stations.

Any feedback on #1, thoughts, comments, suggestions?
