If your husband only needs to commute 2-3 days/week, and you are from Alaska and want to be near mountains and great schools for your kids, then you should consider Evergreen, Conifer, Morrison, and maybe Genesee and Lookout Mountain (Golden). The public schools are excellent in Evergreen and Conifer.
There's wrestling and competitive swimming for your kids and you'll allow your family to live in a great family oriented community.
Good Luck with your search!

Thanks! I hadn't initially considered those places but they sound great. Will do a bit more research. Appreciate it!

I spoke to a realtor who was steering me in the direction of southeast Aurora/Cherry Creek school district - 80015, 80016. Littleton, Parker, and Castle Rock (we have friends there) are also on my radar. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I would be careful about selecting Parker, Castle Rock, or the southern sections of Aurora if the commute is going to be to downtown Denver. Your husband will spend a TON of time in traffic each way.

I actually live near downtown Littleton (near Belleview and Santa Fe Dr. on Google maps), and commute to downtown Denver to work in the office a few days a week while working at home the rest. For me it's about a 20-ish minute drive down Santa Fe Dr each way.

Working Downtown has one big advantage. It is easy to commute to downtown from many areas on our public transit that covers a multi-county region RTD

I would spend some time looking at RTD and making a decisions based on availability of transit options. You do not necessarily have to use it all the time but it is good to have it as a option. It is also nice to get to the entertainment downtown and not worry about parking.

In bad weather, one can easily see that it is consider a better way to commute because the stations and bus stops are crowded by those who always say they drive to work and will never need or take public transit--we always know who they are as they have that look of confusion.

The system is now expanding rapidly under Fastracks. RTD We will see many more rail lines and buses that can connect you easily throughout the region. You will soon be able to take the rail to the airport.

Today, the availability of public transit is seen by many as contributing to their investment of their homes as more and more people are willing to pay more to live near good public transit.

Given that information and for one who thinks it is nice to have the availability of public transit, I would not pick Castle Rock as place to live; it is not in the RTD district.
