Using Google maps from Denver proper;

Denver to Keystone= 68.9 miles
Denver to Loveleand ski area = 56.5 miles
Denver to Eldora ski area = 50.5 miles

Technically Eldora is closest being located just before Nederland.

Of course it all depends on if you want to be annoyed by tourists or you want a locals ski area like Loveland or Eldora.

I don't get that either.
When I drove I-70 to ski I never "worried about the tunnel". The twin tunnels were much worse - that's where the traffic jams normally occurred. (And are about to again with the westbound tunnel being widened.)

It's not that its scary- it's just a PITA!!!! You go up for a day session at Copper and the tunnel closes or has to close every hour to let HAZMAT trucks through if the pass is closed, then your left going thru South Park to 285 to get back home adding 3+ hours to your "day" trip. No thank you....

Love going to Loveland - even driving from Broomfield I can make it there and back (with time to ski) while the kids are in school!
